A message from the Board of the Burnie Tennis Club

Dear Past and Present Members,

I am writing to advise current members that subscriptions are now due for the new tennis year, 2009-2010.  Please ignore this advice if you have already paid this year’s fees.

Note: Invoices can be supplied to members upon request.

I am also writing to past members to extend an invitation to consider rejoining the club in light of some exciting new initiatives and developments happening at the club which I have outlined below.

As you would be aware, it has been a very exciting time for the Burnie Tennis Club over the past year, including:

  • The club has held it’s most successful professional tournament ever – the McDonald’s Burnie International which features Men’s and Women’s events.
  • The courts have been resurfaced at considerable expense to the club and look fantastic in their new colour scheme.
  • The club room renovation project has finally been approved and members can look forward to a new “state of the art” complex that will be the envy of all.
  • The club is in the process of entering into a new partnership with Burnie Sports & Events (BSE) which will see the new complex fully utilised and run, and will have the flow on effect of providing greater benefits and value to all members.

On behalf of the BTC Board, I am pleased to announce to members that a major benefit of the partnership with BSE is the club’s ability to reduce membership fees for the coming year by approximately 40%.

As a result of this substantial reduction, we will be requiring all Tennis players who wish to participate in competitions at the Burnie Tennis Club (or representing the club) to become full members.

Membership is due by the 16th November 2009 – this is when all member swipe cards are programmed to expire. Members can contact the membership officer to further discuss payment details and options if needed.

Tennis Tasmania Affiliation Dues (Not applicable to Social Members):

The club is required to pay affiliation fees to Tennis Tasmania for all BTC members.

This affiliation fee covers player injury insurance whilst playing at the BTC amongst other things.

These fees will be paid no later than December 2009 and members who don’t renew their membership by this time will not be covered by TT insurance.

Members wishing to be covered by TT insurance after the cut off time will have to make a written submission to the membership officer.

Member Details:

Have your personal details changed in the last year??

If so it would be greatly appreciated if members could take the time to fill out a “Membership Renewal form” which can be obtained from the club bar from the friendly staff or off the website. Of particular importance is keeping contact details up to date – such as phone numbers, addresses, e-mail etc.

E-mail is one of the main methods by which the club communicates with members during the year – it is quick, cheap and reliable. It would be greatly appreciated if all members could ensure that the e-mail address supplied to the BTC membership officer is up to date and current.
