The Burnie Tennis Club was very grateful to unveil one of the latest additions to its centre court in time for the McDonalds Burnie International 2010 - the Saunders and Higgins electronic scoreboard.
The addition of the scoreboard proved to be one of the most significant and well appreciated improvements at the 2010 tournament and will prove to be a fantastic asset to the club in years to come. A heartfelt thank you to our generous sponsors - Saunders and Higgins Insurance Pty Ltd.
The other major addition to the centre court facility, was to install new lighting which enabled us to schedule night matches during the tournament for the first time.
A sincere and heary thankyou to Burnie Sports and Events, our tournament partner, with out which new lighting would not have been possible.
Night matches proved to be extremely popular with the viewing public with matches packing out the complex on the nights scheduled.
Now that lighting meets the the strict standard required to host International level matches, we are sure matches under lights will continue to be a feature of the McDonald's International for years to come.
