Top Seeds fall on day 2

RodionovaDefending champion, Arina Rodionova has been knocked out of the 2011 McDonald's Burnie International.

Defending champion, Russian Arina Rodionova has been knocked out of the Burnie International by Queenslander, Sophie Letcher in three tough sets.  Rodionova struggled for most of the match with an injury, receiving treatment at the change of ends after winning the first set in a tiebreak.  Rodionova was unable to shake off injury and Letcher in the final two sets going down 6-4 6-3.

Number one seed, Sally Peers was another seed to fall going down to Canadian qualifier Eugenie Bouchard in three sets.  Peers comfortably won the first set 6-1 but Bouchard was too strong in the final sets 6-2 6-3.

 It wasn’t all bad news for the tops seeds with Jessica Moore, seed number four downing fellow Australian  Monika Wejnert 2-6 7-6 6-0.

Olivia Rogowska, seeded number five, won comfortably on centre court against Australian Stefani Stojic 6-2 6-1.

Sixth seed, Caroline Garcia of France was too strong for Australian qualifier Daniela Scivetti winning 6-1 6-3.
