Rising star of Australian tennis, Bernard Tomic will be up against Western Australian Matthew Ebden on centre court in round 16 matches of the Burnie International.  Tomic last night, cruised through the first round defeating Sam Groth in straight sets in front of a packed crowd on centre court. Ebden also had a comfortable victory over number 3 seed, Grega Zemlja in the first round.

Australia’s Chris Guccione will also play on centre court second up against number 6 seed, Yuichi Sugita looking to advance to the qurter-finals.  Guccione was in good touch yesterday winning in straight sets against Brydan Klein and Sugita came back from a set down in his match against Danai Udomchke in the first round.

Other matches to feature in the round of 16 are number 2 seed, Paolo Lorenzi  of Italy up against Australia’s James Lemke on court 2 along with Great Britian’s James Ward up against Jan Hernych of the Czech Republic. Pavol Cervenak of Slovakia will match up against Joel Lindner of Australia.

Phillip Bester of Canada, the giant killer of the first round, knocking out number 1 seed, Marinko Matosevic will play Italy’s Flavio Cipolla.

On court 4, Erik Chvojka of Canada will be up against Benjamin Mitchell of Australia and another Canadian, Peter Polansky will be up against number 8 seed, Tatsuma Ito of Japan.
