Tomic through to semi-final

BTomic4Australia’s best junior player, Bernard Tomic won his way through to the semi-finals of the 2010 McDonalds Burnie International after he took out the number six seed, Nick Lindahl in the second round in the morning session and then backed up in the evening session to defeat the number one seed Grega Zemlja.

Tomic came back from a set down in both contests in a gutsy display of tennis and will now meet veteran Jo Sirianni in the first semi-final.
In his match against Lindahl he went down 6-4 in the first before Tomic won a tight second winning 7-3 in the tie-break.  Tomic was too solid in the third with Lindahl struggling to contain his frustration and copped a code violation for his trouble.  Tomic was able to get the late break and served the match out to win 6-4.

Sirianni was in great form in the other quarter-final against Canada’s Pierre-Ludovic Duclos winning 7-6(1) 6-3.
Greg Jones, the seventh seed won a marathon match against fellow countryman John Millman in over three hours.  Millman won the first set 6-4 and then the second and third sets went to a tie-break.
