Arina Rodionova took out her maiden McDonald's Burnie International tournament win in front of a packed crowd, bathed in glorious sunshine.
Arina made it a very successful week at Burnie, taking out the women's final yesterday with partner Jessica Moore, she added to her spoils by scoring a convincing win over No.1 seed Jarmila Groth in the Ladies Singles final.
Arina got better as the week went on and finished of in style with a one sided win over Groth 6-1 6-0. In her second appearance at Burnie, Arina is making a successful transition from junior tennins and will now fly out to compete in Asia and Dubai.
Jarmila Groth, the No.1 seed and crowd favourite, was disappointed at being on the wrong end of the one sided final, but took some consolation from getting through the week unscathed after coming back from ankle surgery. Being the runner up and playing a couple of tough 3 setters on the way to the final, meant her recovering ankle got a good work out indeed.
